Peer Review Process
Journal of Tekirdag Agricultural Faculty (JOTAF) is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal. Therefore during peer review process, the reviewers don't know the identity of authors, and vice versa.
Once an author submits a manuscript through the online submission system (http://dergipark.gov.tr/jotaf), it is automatically logged in and checked to make sure that the submission is complete. During submission, corresponding author should submit also Copyright Agreement Form that was signed by all authors. Each manuscript is then controlled and read by an editor in chief (either individually or in consultation with advisory board members). A manuscript could be rejected without review process, if its content is not suitable to the scope of the journal, the manuscript does not follow editorial policy and procedural guidelines, or it contains an unacceptable level of overlap with manuscripts that are already in press.
If a manuscript is not rejected when first received, it is then sent out for review to section editor. Section editors send it to review minimum of two reviewers who are an expert in the article's research field. If the section editors are not satisfied with their review results (for example one of reviewer recommends major revision while other reviewer accept it without any revision); review process can be continued with additional reviewer(s). Double‐blind review method is used for the review process. So, both the authors and the reviewers are unaware of each other's identity.
Once reviewers are chosen and they accept their review assignment, the reviewers return their recommendations and reports to the section editors (via the online submission system). Section editor send these recommendations and reports to author for revision of the manuscript. Section editor assesses them collectively, and then makes a decision, in consultation with editorial board members on whether to reject the manuscript, to withhold judgment pending major or minor revisions, to accept it pending satisfactorily completed revisions, or to accept it as written. In accordance with its publishing policies, Journal of Tekirdag Agricultural Faculty (JOTAF), reviewed papers are also detected for plagiarism done by iThenticate software (maximum 20% can be acceptable). The matches found in each study after plagiarism detection are analysed in detail and those matches with correct reference and cross-reference are sorted. The mistakes in the remaining matches are determined and reported to the editorial board. The board, then, makes a final decision in the light of the plagiarism detection report. The author(s) may be asked to correct the mistakes listed in the report or the study may be returned to the author(s).
